Old Mill Cultural Centre

The Old Mill Cultural Centre is a significant cultural and historical site located along the Edward Oliver Leblanc Highway in Canefield, Saint Paul Parish. It is just a short drive north of Roseau and near Canefield Airport. Originally established as a sugar mill and rum distillery during the British colonial era, it now serves as a hub for arts and cultural activities.

About the Old Mill Cultural Centre

The Old Mill Cultural Centre was initially used for sugar and rum production until the collapse of the Dominica sugar industry. In 1964, the estate was sold to the Government of Dominica. By 1976, a portion of the mill was allocated to the National Arts Council, which transformed it into a cultural centre with the help of a grant from the British Development Division. The centre underwent significant renovations after Hurricane David in 1979, funded by USAID, and was formally established as a cultural venue in 1985.
