CEO of Nature Island Communications Corporation (Kairi FM), Frankie Bellot, has presented a cheque of $5,000 to the Dominica Cancer Society (DCS). Bellot, a cancer patient, presented the donation to Yvonne Alexander, President of the DCS in Goodwill on Friday.
“Kairi FM, Kairi sounds…we help people with cancer; that is my contribution,” Bellot said during the presentation ceremony.
The donation was realized from the 3rd annual Malkase – the Carnival Last Lap which held in Windsor Park Sports Stadium on February 29, 2020.
Bellot who disclosed that he has paid for his cancer treatment, encouraged other cancer patients to take life for what it is and stop fretting over the impossible. He added that constant complaints and worrying can worsen cancer conditions, because “life is what it is.”
DSC’s President Yvonne Alexander thanked Bellot and the entire Kairi FM and Sounds management for the donation. She said the contribution will go a long way in helping the cancer society to care for cancer patients throughout Dominica. She advised patients to never give up but to make healthy lifestyle choices that will help them to survive the disease and live longer.
“Walk the talk of making healthy lifestyle choices,” Alexander stated. “Exercise; do something physical; do regular screenings so that anyone unfortunately who may be diagnosed will have the opportunity to be detected early, treated and survive.”
