The Dominica Electricity Services Limited (DOMLEC) is celebrating is yearly health and safety month. This year’s celebrationo is tagged “Enhancing the Health and Safety Culture: Safety Rules Are Your Best Tools”. The electricity agency will be visiting several schools to teach and entertain questions from schoolchilldren about the importance of health and environmental safety.
DOMLEC’s safety officer, Bernard Francis, said this year’s celebration will focus more on creativity and opportunities. Agency manager Brandon Hillaire said the staff and stakeholders of DOMLEC will also engage in a health walk to sensitize people to the importance of personal health and environmental safety.
The general secretary of WAWU, Kertiste Augustus, praised the management of DOMLEC for this year’s health and safety month, and also credited the agency for its outstanding operational performance over the decades. He tasked the electricity company to do more to sensitize Dominicans in the areas of safety and health, adding that this will promote greater understanding and wellness in the country.
Augustus also noted that WAWU’s partnership with DOWASCO has been yeilding great fruits and that both entities have more to do to better the lives of Dominicans and fulfill operational objectives. He tasked people to cooperate with WAWU, DOWASCO, and DOMLEC so that they can continue to serve the interests of their target audiences.
