Govt and MMCE to Sign Construction Agreement for Airport before May 31
PM Roosevelt Skerrit announced that the government will be signing a construction agreement with MMCE before May 31 for the proposed international airport. He said the airport will be constructed with CBI funds and that it will mark an economic turnaround for Dominica when completed.
According to Skerrit, the agreement was approved by on May 19 after some amendments, and the government can now proceed with construction plans and execution. He noted that the nation had desired to own an international airport for several decades without success, but hopeful that the dream will come to fruition during his own tenure.
I believe this is an important step for the country. We’ve all since the 40s 50s 60s been seeking to build an international airport for our country and now we are well on our way to achieving this dream for Dominica. So we look forward to signing this agreement by the end of May 2021 so that the associated next steps can be advanced towards the realization of our international airport.

The prime minister went on to add that all sectors of the economy will benefit greatly when the airport is completed. He stated that this will guarantee economic and social advancement for the country. Furthermore, he said the airport will boost the sustainability of the education, tourism, and agriculture sectors of the country in many areas.
He urged all citizens to play their parts towards the realization if the international airport and other capital investments of the government.
My hope and prayer is that we can all play our part in this country to ensure that dream of the international airport is realized and I am very humbled to be the leader of the country at this time and with the hope of realizing the largest infrastructural project in the history of our country.
