UWP Calls for Certificates of Title for Government Housing Recipients
The Executive of the United Workers Party (UWP) TEAM Dominica fully supports and endorses the call made by the Honourable Lennox Linton, Parliamentary Leader of the Opposition and the UWP that the Prime Minister directs functionaries within the Government to speedily complete all processes involved in the preparation of Certificates of Title with respect to house and apartment allocations to individuals across the country. Further, that the said recipients be issued with individual Certificates of Title thereby regularizing and legitimizing their ownership of the allocated houses or apartments.
That all the preparation and issuance of these Certificates of Title be completed expeditiously. This call is being made notwithstanding the seemingly discriminative selection processes employed in past housing allocations.
Being mindful that the Constitutional responsibility for non-discriminative governance in the affairs of State in the Commonwealth of Dominica rests squarely with the Cabinet of Ministers, the Executive of UWP recommends that a Public Housing Allocation Committee be appointed to administer a non-discriminative selection process for future housing and apartment allocations. Further, that the names of the people appointed to serve on the Public Housing Allocation Committee as well as the housing selection and allocation criteria be made public, so as to bring about semblances of fairness and equitability in the allocation processes.
