Telecom Minister Outlines Govt’s Plans to Boost Service and Value in 2022
The Minister of Telecommunications, Oscar George, said the government is motivated to boost service delivery and value to all telecom users in Dominica in 2022. The minister said his ministry is planning to use satellite technologies to boost internet services across the country, and that innovative strides are being made to upscale users’ experiences in this new year.
Senator George noted that the Skerrit-led administration will build upon the technological successes attained in the previous years to make digital communication accessible to everyone. He said the government is also strengthening its disaster-monitoring systems to be alerted to the risks of natural events so that hurricanes and massive storms can be averted.
The minister said regulatory conditions for service providers in Dominica will be reviewed so they can improve their service delivery, and to enable consumers to get greater value for their money. He added that internet connectivity will soon be available everywhere on the east coast and the northern part of the island, and that the government intends to achieve 100% internet connectivity across the country.
According to him, the government has set up Wi-Fi connectivity in the Kalinago Territory pending the time internet connectivity will be available in the region. He said his ministry continues to collaborate with service providers to expedite service delivery to all parts of the country at the cheapest and fastest rate possible, and that this will become a reality in 2022.
