Dominica Suffers Second CONCACAF Defeat As Trinidad and Tobago Won 2-0

Following Dominica’s 4-0 defeat to Guyana in the ongoing CONCACAF Women’s Qualifiers last week, the Sisserou Ladies has lost 2-0 to Trinidad and Tobago again on Monday. The Dominican team which has seven foreign players put up a strong offensive against their opponents in Guyana, but they still lost twice in the tournament.

However, Coach Albert Titre commended the ladies for their show of sportsmanship despite their losses to Guyana and subsequently Trinidad and Tobago.

Titre said the team tackled T&T aggressively in the first half but succumbed to a goal when the opponent took advantage of a loophole in the defence. He said the team put up a strong fight in the second half of the game but the T&T side netted in the ball again.

The national women’s team coach praised the team captain, Alianne George, and the entire players for launching a hot offensive in the match even though they ended up losing the game. Titre blamed the loss partly on an injury earlier suffered by the goalkeeper, adding that the DFA might still be able to contract another goalkeeper before the game against Turks and Caicos.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and the sports minister are also full of kind words for the senior women’s football team, and tasked them to not lose hopes in the games ahead of them. The government said it will provide all needed support to the DFA to ensure that the country comes top in any sporting competitions in the Caribbean region and beyond.
