JCI Dominica President Expresses Joy for Hosting the 62nd JCI Convention

President of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) in Dominica, Linda Felix, has expressed joy at hosting the 62nd convention of the yearly JCI West Indies programme at the Jungle Bay Resort and Spa. The convention was attended by more than 100 participants from Antigua, Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Jamaica, and the USA.

Organized annually and hosted by different countries each time, this year’s convention was hosted by Dominica under the theme “Mabrika: Celebrating Regional Diversity”. Felix said the programme would celebrate the people of Kalinago and other indigenous peoples of Dominica and in other participating countries.

The Minister of Tourism, Denise Charles, who attended the launch praised JCI Dominica team for their efforts at promoting regional unity and celebrating the diversity of the many peoples of the Caribbean and the Americas. She said JCI is now a household name in Dominica on account of the efforts of the organization to advance the ideals of youth integration across the world.

All the participants at this year’s event visited several iconic locations in Dominica such as Champagne Reef and Beach, Titou Gorge, Fresh Water Lake, Spanny Falls, Jacko Falls, and Mero Beach. Many of the participants also took to kayaking, scuba diving, canyoning, and river tubing among other water adventures. They experienced Dominica’s cultural entertainment and local food as well as interacted with old colleages to expand their social networks. Felix said JCI Dominica was able to host this year’s event with the help of sponsors and thanked her team for being so helpful. National President of JCI West Indies, Britney Romeo, and Miss Jaycee 2022 Nekirah Nicholls of St. Kitts and Nevis thanked everyone for attending the event and expressed hopes for a greater experience in next year’s convention.
