Situation Report: School Debates and National School Arts Festival

The ongoing inter-secondary schools’ debate organized by Trudy Christian entered another round on Wednesday. The semi-final held at the Fort Young Hotel between Arthur Waldron SDA Academy versus St. Mary and North-East Comprehensive School versus Orion Academy.

Arthur Waldron/St. Mary debated hairstyles in schools and North-East/Orion debated the use of social media among students. The organizer credited the debaters from various schools for putting their best feet forward in the competition. She noted that the students continue to hone their craft as they progressed from one stage of the competition to the other.

In a related vein, the national schools arts festival for this year kicked off on Monday, March 6. The participating schools competed in areas such as choral speech, vocal solo, choral music, and instrumental ensemble. While the competition continues into next week, five participating schools had already won gold to the excitement of the organizers.

The schools that won gold in various categories are Wesley Primary School, Paix Bouche Primary School, Convent High School, Dominica Grammar School, and Pierre Charles Secondary School.
