Dominica’s Boxer Delroy Jno Charles Axes Venezuela’s Silva Jorge at ALBA Games
Dominica’s Boxer Delroy Jno Charles axed Venezuelan boxer Silva Jorge at the ongoing 5th ALBA games in Venezuela. Charles won the boxing match by judges’ consensus after the third round. He is the first sportsman to win big at the games on Monday, and he has set the pace for other athletes to follow.
A police officer, Charles is much shorter than Jorge who stands at 6 feet 9 inches tall. But from the time the referee opened the match, the Dominican fighter was unfazed at the height of his opponent. He appeared intent on flooring him at all costs.
During the first round, Charles delivered a hail of blows that clearly stunned Jorge, but the Venezuelan absorbed the heavy punches like a true professional. But in the second round, Jorge stung like a bee by delivering direct blows that nearly confused Charles, but the boxer held his ground.
With the fight appearing balanced and with much sentiment in favour of Charles who is much shorter than Jorge, the third round was a great watch for the audience. Charles came at his enemy like a bulldozer and Jorge fought back valiantly; but at the end of the game, the judges came to a decision that the Dominican had the upper hand. Charles was declared the winner.
