The Deep Dominica Freediving Competition is a notable event set to take place from July 28th to August 4th, 2024. This competition spans six days and encompasses all disciplines, sanctioned by CMAS, with the status to set world records.
General Information:
- Entry Fee: $800 USD
- Schedule:
- Competition Days: July 28th, 29th, 31st, August 1st, 3rd, and 4th
- Rest Days: July 30th and August 2nd
- Closing Ceremony: August 4th
Traveling to the Island:
- From America: Options include direct flights from Miami or San Juan to Dominica, or flights to a neighboring island (Barbados, Guadeloupe, etc.) followed by a flight or ferry to Dominica.
- From Europe: Travelers can fly from Paris to Guadeloupe/Martinique and then take a ferry to Dominica, or fly to Miami followed by a direct flight to Dominica.
- Notes: It’s crucial not to confuse Dominica with the Dominican Republic. The correct airport for Dominica is Melville Hall, also known as Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM), located in Marigot. Travel to Soufriere from the airport takes about 1.30 hours by taxi, costing $100 USD, while from the ferry in Roseau, it’s a 30-minute ride costing $40 USD.
