Dominica’s East Coast

Dominica’s East Coast is vital to the island’s tourism industry. It offers breathtaking Atlantic Ocean views, rugged beauty, and a rich cultural heritage. This region encompasses picturesque villages like Castle Bruce, Atkinson, and the Carib/Kalinago Territory, all of which hold significant historical importance.

About Dominica’s East Coast

Dominica’s East Coast is famous for its waterfalls, with Victoria Falls and Sari-Sari Falls being the two most visited. The White River, which feeds into Victoria Falls, is particularly noteworthy for its unique white-colored water due to its high mineral content.

The Kalinago Territory, located on the East Coast, is home to the Kalinago people, the island’s indigenous inhabitants. This area preserves the rich cultural traditions and heritage of the Kalinago, offering visitors a glimpse into the life and customs of Dominica’s first settlers. The territory comprises several villages, including Sineku, Mahaut River, Gaulette River, Salybia, Crayfish River, Bataka, St. Cyr, and Concord.

Castle Bruce is another notable community on the East Coast, known for its beautiful sweeping bay on the Atlantic coast. This area is a popular spot for visitors due to its scenic views and serene environment.

Beaches and Coastal Views

While the East Coast is less known for its beaches than other parts of Dominica, it still offers several picturesque spots, such as Bout Sabe and Rosalie, which feature amazing coastal views and black sand beaches. However, the waves and currents can be unpredictable, so caution is advised when swimming.
