Dominica State College invites applications for an English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor. The successful candidate will play a vital role in developing and delivering engaging English language instruction to non-native speakers. Responsibility
The successful ESL Instructor is responsible for analyzing all prescribed texts and resources to develop quality lesson plans and curricula. The Instructor will also be expected to collaborate with colleagues and learn from their methods, teaching strategies, and classroom management techniques.
The ESL Instructor will play a crucial role in developing and delivering engaging English language instruction to non-native speakers. He/she will utilize innovative teaching methods and create a supportive learning environment that promotes language acquisition and cultural understanding.
The Instructor would demonstrate involvement in campus life and an interest in a continuing relationship with the DSC, to contribute to the college’s growth. Finally, the ideal candidate will consistently research his/her subject area, attend conferences, write articles, and support the Faculty Dean in miscellaneous institutional strengthening activities.
Experience and Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in the field of study
- Certificate in Education would be an asset
- At least two (2) years of teaching experience
- Develop and teach English language courses tailored to the needs of students at various proficiency levels.
- Prepare lesson plans that incorporate diverse instructional strategies to engage learners effectively.
- Assess student progress through assignments, tests, and interactive activities.
- Provide constructive feedback and support to help students achieve their language learning goals.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of ESL curricula and teaching materials.
- Stay current with the latest educational practices and integrate them into teaching.
- Proven academic leadership skills
