On Friday, DA Next Level Sports Management & Recruiting Group (DNLSMRG) and KBC launched the #OhYea #SportsIsABigDeal Program, which includes a raffle and fundraising activity to support local athletes. The event was held at the BIG W Conference Room, H.H.V Whitchurch & Co. Ltd in Canefield.
At the launch, Dunstan Maggie Peters, Director of Recruitment & Talent Identification at DNLSMRG and Founder of the 767 Sports Club, called on the public to support the initiative. Peters highlighted that sports are essential for giving athletes purpose and belonging. He acknowledged the financial challenges of supporting athletes but emphasized that the community must come together to help. “We are not crying, but we are trying,” he said, urging more public involvement.
Peters added that the organization also seeks institutional support but stressed the importance of looking out for each other within the community. He thanked those who contributed to sports programs and encouraged continued support.
L’Express Des Îles Marketing Officer Desma Patrick expressed HHV Whitchurch’s enthusiasm for the program. She noted that sports can be a viable career, referencing Dominica’s Olympic gold medal win. Patrick announced that HHV Whitchurch would donate two hampers, and L’Express Des Isles would contribute one ticket to support the initiative.
Jerry Williams, Program Director of DA Next Level Sports Management, announced that the #OhYea #SportsIsABigDeal Program will hold a Christmas raffle, offering the following prizes:
- 1st Prize: A 65’’ TV
- 2nd Prize: A round-trip ticket on Sunrise Airways
- 3rd Prize: A ferry ticket on L’Express Des Isles
- 4th & 5th Prizes: Food hampers from HHV Whitchurch
The raffle draw will be held on December 21, 2024, with tickets priced at $5 each. Proceeds will benefit DA Next Level Sports Management & Kreyol Basketball Championship Sports Programs, aimed at helping athletes achieve their goals.
The #OhYea #SportsIsABigDeal Program focuses on youth development in basketball and football, offering grassroots training, competition, and career opportunities. The program is built around four core components:

- 767 Nature Island Elite Sports Academy
- Kreyol Basketball Championship
These programs collectively contribute to the growth and success of local athletes, helping them reach their full potential both locally and internationally.
