Prime Minister Modi Receives Dominica’s Highest Honor for Global Leadership
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been honored with Dominica’s highest award, the Dominica Award of Honour. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit described the accolade as “more than a symbol” but a tribute to Modi’s “enduring legacy and commitment to humanity and his indelible mark on nations, including Dominica, far beyond his shores.”
Skerrit highlighted Modi’s critical role during the 2021 COVID-19 pandemic, calling his donation of 70,000 AstraZeneca vaccines a “lifeline for Dominica.” He emphasized, “This act transcended a donation and was a powerful reminder that true leadership knows no borders. It enabled us to help our people and extend aid to our Caribbean neighbors still awaiting relief.”
Skerrit further lauded Modi’s leadership, describing it as both decisive and visionary. He credited India’s advancements in healthcare, capacity building, technology, and infrastructure as evidence of Modi’s belief in inclusive progress, stating, “His actions inspire the world and demonstrate the essence of true partnership and global solidarity.”
This recognition underscores Dominica’s gratitude for India’s support during challenging times and highlights the strong bond between the two nations.
