Senhouse Bridge in Castle Bruce Now Open To Motorists and Pedestrians

The Senhouse Bridge in Castle Bruce is now open to motorists and pedestrians following a successful completion. The bridge had been out of order for several years, but following the government’s intervention, it is now fully repaired and ready for immediate use.

The representative for the constituency, Johnson Drigo, revealed that the Skerrit-led administration helped with over $300,000 to make the reconstruction possible.

Drigo disclosed that the government was compelled to help out when it was obvious the bridge could not be reconstructed otherwise. Residents of Castle Bruce were forced to find alternative ways to use the bridge, even with the difficulty caused to the area by the late rains.

He said the government carried out some major repairs but the rains swept everything away and residents had a difficult time navigating the terrain.

“We are saying to you today, the people of Castle Bruce, especially the people from Senhouse, that we now we have a safe project given to us by our government,” Drigo said.

The Senhouse Bridge was constructed over 50 years ago. It was initially constructed with culverts, but it caved when the rains came. The September to November rains did much damage to the bridge and also filled it with environmental debris.

But the reconstruction will ensure that no debris can block the passage of water under the bridge to the point of undermining its structural integrity.

The new Senhouse Bridge is just one of the many projects earmarked for completion in Castle Bruce, Drigo said. He added that many roads are ready for rehabilitation and construction materials are already on hand for the repairs; the required renovations will ensure that many local contractors and labourers are employed for the job.
