ACL’s Rhonda Celaire Wants Sporting Activities Included in Education System
Achievement Learning Center (ACL) Principal, Rhonda Celaire, wants sporting activities included in the education system. The educationist believes the Ministy of Education can improve the learning comprehension of below-average students if sporting could be added to the curriculum to help the motor skills of young learners.
According to Celaire, children do not generally like studying; but they could enjoy it if their motor skills are sharpened with sporting activities during school hours. Teachers are also getting to understand this notion, and they have embraced the likelihood of exposing students to sports when they are in the school to sharpen their retention.
ALC teachers and staff recently underwent a capacity-building programme to expose them to the rudiments of educating special children throughout the country. The training event was facilitated by the Dominica American Relief and Development Association (DARDA), the Maria Holder Memorial Trust, My Child and I Charity, and the Little Sunshine Stimulation Center.
Celaire disclosed that ACL has come up with the slogan “Blended Pre-School” to effectively help children enjoy quality education planted in a fun and secure learning environment. She said the center looks forward to working with parents and other professional personnel to help schoolchildren become the best they can be at their academic endeavours.
