Residents of Trafalgar have elected a new leadership team led by Chairperson Shadina St Jean and Deputy Chair Marvin Hector to guide the Trafalgar / Shawford / Fond Canie Village Council, as the community looks forward to strengthened local governance and development projects. The election results were announced following a highly anticipated voting process with strong community engagement.
The newly elected council members have pledged to address key concerns, including infrastructure improvements, waste management, and community safety initiatives. In his address to the council, the Minister of Local Government emphasized the importance of effective leadership at the village level.
“Strong local governance is the foundation of national development,” he stated. “We encourage this new council to be proactive in engaging the community and ensuring that real progress is made.”
Outgoing council members expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to serve, urging the new leadership to build on existing projects while tackling emerging challenges.
Residents have voiced optimism about the council’s potential to drive meaningful change, particularly in areas such as road maintenance, tourism development, and youth empowerment programs. The new leadership is expected to hold its first public meeting next week to outline its agenda and invite community input.
