Hotelier Gregor Nassief Files Lawsuit; Lennox Linton Kicks Back

Hotelier Gregor Nassief filed a lawsuit against Lennox Linton; opposition leader kicks back. The legal action instituted by Nassief against Linton is in respect of allegations made by the UWP leader to the effect that Nassief and others benefitted unduly from housing and tourism projects facilitated by CBI funds. Opposition leader Linton, however, said no one can intimidate him and that Nassief’s legal proceeding is nothing but a distraction and a ploy to silence him.

In an open response to Linton’s allegation, Nassief noted that “while the legal implications of these statements are being pursued, I have, at your invitation decided to ‘unshut’ my mouth, and respond to what I consider to be at best intellectual dishonesty and at worst intellectual incompetence.”

The hotel said he is going to tutor ignoramuses about projects he is accused of profiteering from by dividing his detailed response into three parts:

  • Part I: The Business of CBI
  • Part II: The Business of Real Estate (aka “where de money gone”)
  • Part III: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Nassief said he went to the trouble of responding fully to Linton even in the face of a filed lawsuit because the latter accused him and others of an “elaborate scheme to cheat and steal” in matters relating to Jungle Bay, Secret Bay, and Anichi among others. Linton specifically mentioned Alick Lawrence, Sam Raphael, and Gregor Nassief among others in the Kempinski and Range Kempinski model projects.

Nassief demands that Linton apologize publicly to him for his unfounded and ignorant accusations. This is “for what I consider to be your insidious and baseless inferences or innuendos made against me as the developer of Secret Bay on September 3rd, during your discussion with Mr. Matthias Peltier on the Hot Seat on Q95.”

But Linton told UWP supporters that Nassief has undermined and publicly ridiculed the honest pursuit of his parliamentary oversight responsibilities by instituting the lawsuit. He said he will never be intimidated or silenced when it comes to misappropriating CBI funds to benefit housing and hotel developers.

“If you don’t know me by now, verily I say unto you, no man intimidates me; no threat scares me; no fear enslaves me,” Linton tells Nassief. “I am not a hewer of wood or a drawer of water for passport money pirates. I don’t answer to them and I will damn to hell, their Skerrit-facilitated, obscene profiteering from the sale of Dominica’s passports as injurious to the well-being and progress of the people of Dominica.”

Linton said he remains resolute in executing his duties to God and country as an elected Member of Parliament and leader of the parliamentary opposition.
