Update: Restoration of Water Supply in the East
DOWASCO is continuing to work towards the restoration of water in the quickest possible time in the following areas:
- 1. Morne Jaune– the intake was blocked with boulders and debris; several lengths of supply pipeline were washed away. Clearing of the intake is ongoing. Access to transit through Rosalie is restricted.
- Riviere Cyrique– the intake was blocked with boulders and debris and the infrastructure was damaged; several lengths of supply pipeline were washed away. DOWASCO was able to truck water to the area on November 9, 2022. We are unable to today due to restricted access.
- 3.La Plaine– the water supply was restored on November 9, 2022, to some parts of the community, however, we were further affected by flooding of the intake on the night of November 9. damage to the supply pipeline and access further restricted by the situation at New Foundland. Works are in progress in this community.
- Castle Bruce– The water supply was restored; however, the supply was tainted, the supply pipeline is being changed today November 10. In the meantime, we are trucking water to the area.
- 5. Concord, North-End, Bataka, Antrizzle– these communities remain without water as a result of blockage of the intake and Crapaud Hall access road. DOWASCO however completed the road clearing and now we are working at the intake and supply pipelines to restore water by the end of today.
- Delices and Grand Fond –the water supply was restored in these communities, however, Grand Fond water system is facing some challenges. There is intermittent supply due to the heavy rainfall on November 9, 2022.
- San Sauver, Morpo, Tranto, Dix Pas, Good Hope and Petite Soufriere– Regretfully we lost our Water System Caretaker and Pump Operator for these communities. As a result of limited access, we are working with other residents in the restoration of the water supply, We will provide a further update.
