Job Description

The Business and Employment Centre Inc (Dominica), on behalf of our client, is looking for a Baker to join their team in Dominica. The candidate will manage daily baking tasks, including preparing pastries and breads, regulating oven temperatures, and maintaining hygiene standards. Knowledge of food safety regulations in Dominica and the ability to work independently are required.

Responsibility

• Open bakery early
• Maintain cleanliness and proper handling of bakery  equipments and tools
• Prepare all ingredients for baking, measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes using scale, bakes in the oven
• Regulates thermostat of oven and times items being baked
• Prepare dough to prepare different types of pastries
• Prépares and Bake different bread types
• Ensure timely completion of baked products
• Works independently
• Team oriented
• Assist in on the job training
• Ensure proper standard of hygiene and sanitation

Experience and Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Dominica Bureau of Standards (DBOS) food safety regulations, ensuring compliance with national requirements for food handling and preparation.
• Adherence to Public Health (Food Hygiene) Regulations of Dominica, including proper sanitation, equipment handling, and personal hygiene.
• Trained in Safe Food Handling Practices in line with Dominica’s Ministry of Health guidelines for the prevention of foodborne illnesses.
• Knowledge of local health inspection criteria to ensure bakery operations meet hygiene and safety standards during audits.
• Familiarity with professional bakery equipment.
• Understanding of food safety practices.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Team spirit.
• Flexibility to work early mornings.
• Knowledge of Viennoiserie (French Pastry) is a plus.
