Description

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is the country's principal law enforcement agency. It operates under the Ministry of National Security and Legal Affairs and is dedicated to maintaining public order, ensuring public safety, and upholding the rule of law.

About the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force

Operating under the Police Act Chapter 14:01 of the Revised Laws of Dominica, the CDPF is structured to address the country's diverse law enforcement challenges. The Commissioner of Police, supported by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, is at the helm of the CDPF. The hierarchy includes Gazetted Officers, such as the Chief of Police and Deputy Chief of Police, as well as Subordinate Officers, including Inspectors, Sergeants, Corporals, and Constables. This chain of command ensures effective management and operational success.

Strength and Expansion

The CDPF comprises approximately 600 established officers, highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening the force. This expansion enhances police presence across communities, improves response times, and ensures greater visibility and vigilance. Recent recruitment drives have further bolstered the force. In March 2022, 51 recruits joined the ranks, forming one of the largest graduating classes in CDPF history. These initiatives reflect the dedication to building a robust and capable police force.

Recruitment and Training

Recruitment and training are integral to the CDPF’s mission. Recruits undergo a comprehensive six-month training program designed to prepare them for the diverse responsibilities of modern policing. The training emphasizes professionalism, community engagement, and law enforcement techniques, ensuring that recruits can effectively handle real-world challenges.

Community Engagement

The CDPF actively engages with communities through events, outreach programs, and safety initiatives. These efforts build trust between law enforcement and the public while promoting crime prevention and education. By fostering collaboration, the CDPF reinforces its commitment to creating a safer environment for Dominicans.

Commitment to Excellence

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) remains a cornerstone of safety and security through professionalism, discipline, and ethical conduct. The CDPF continues to adapt and grow, meeting Dominica's evolving needs while maintaining the highest law enforcement standards.
