Description
The Dominica Board of Engineering (BOE) is the regulatory authority established under the Engineering Profession Act #22 of 2002 to oversee and regulate engineering practice within the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The BOE is committed to:
- Regulating Engineering Practice: Ensuring that engineering services in Dominica meet the highest standards of professionalism and safety.
- Promoting Engineering Excellence: Encouraging continuous professional development among local engineers and engineering consulting firms to enhance their competitiveness and expertise.
- Protecting Public Interest: Safeguarding the health and safety of the Dominican public by upholding rigorous engineering standards.
Structure and Composition
The Board is comprised of seven members appointed by the Minister who are responsible for Public Works. These members include:
- Four registered engineers nominated by the Dominica Association of Professional Engineers (D.A.P.E).
- A public officer who is registered or eligible to be registered as an engineer.
- Two individuals selected by the Minister, representing the public interest.
Upon appointment, the Board elects a Chairman, Secretary, and Treasurer from among its members.
Registration and Licensing
To legally practice engineering in Dominica, individuals and organizations must be registered with the BOE. The registration process requires:
- Possession of an engineering degree from an accredited program.
- A minimum of four years of relevant experience under the supervision of a registered professional engineer.
- Submission of a completed application form, accompanied by necessary documentation and fees.
Compliance and Enforcement
In accordance with the Engineering Profession Act, practicing engineering without proper registration is an offense punishable by fines and imprisonment. The BOE actively monitors compliance and takes necessary actions to enforce regulations, thereby maintaining the integrity of the engineering profession in Dominica.
