Established through a collaboration involving the Commonwealth Youth Programme (CYP), the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), the DYBT has been instrumental in nurturing young entrepreneurial talents.

Origin and Development DYBT
Launched in May 2004, the Dominica Youth Business Trust was formed after consultations with various stakeholders starting in August 2003. It represents a model that combines attributes of past initiatives, pooling resources and inputs from several institutions and donors into a coordinated project. This project delivers an efficient package of services to young entrepreneurs, aiding in the establishment of sustainable businesses.
Key Components
- Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP): This four-week program includes a one-week Achievement Motivation Training (AMT) and three weeks of EDP sessions. It forms a compulsory part of the DYBT model, focusing on equipping participants with necessary entrepreneurial skills.
- Small Business Assistance Facility (SBAF): Targeted at young applicants already in business, this two-day workshop is mandatory for those who meet the basic requirements.
- Mentorship Programme: An integral component of DYBT, this program receives part funding from the CDB and technical support from the Barbados Youth Business Trust (BYBT). It aims to provide guidance and support to young entrepreneurs.
