Description
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit is the central coordinating and executing agency established by the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Its primary mandate is to coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of eGovernment initiatives and the utilization of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) within the public sector.
Key Functions of the ICT Unit:
- Policy Development: Formulating ICT policies that guide technology integration and effective use across government ministries and departments.
- Infrastructure Management: Overseeing the development and maintenance of ICT infrastructure to ensure reliable and secure communication networks within the public sector.
- E-Government Implementation: Driving the adoption of digital services to enhance public service delivery, increase transparency, and improve citizen engagement.
- Capacity Building: Providing training and support to government personnel to effectively utilize ICT tools and systems.
The ICT Unit operates under the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities, and Digital Economy. It plays an integral role in developing Dominica's digital economy by providing e-government solutions and promoting the use of ICT in public administration.
