The National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit (NDAPU), established in April 1997 by the Government of Dominica, operates under the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services. Its primary mandate is to harmonize and coordinate all anti-drug activities across the island, addressing social issues related to drug use and abuse.

Mission of the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit

The National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit (NDAPU) aims to enhance the social and physiological well-being of all citizens through awareness building, thereby significantly reducing the demand for drugs.

NDAPU's Objectives

• Information Dissemination: Provide accurate and up-to-date information on the drug situation to guide program implementation.
• Youth Empowerment: Equip the school population with skills to make responsible decisions.
• Community Engagement: Empower communities by developing skilled leaders to combat drug problems.
• Public Awareness: Increase public knowledge on drug issues and sensitize them to the current drug situation.

NDAPU's Publications

NDAPU regularly publishes newsletters and reports to inform the public and stakeholders about its activities and findings. Notably, the 2019 Dominica Alcohol and Drug Information Network (DADIN) Report highlights data on epidemiological drug research, demand and supply reduction, treatment, and prevention.
