Saint Nicholas Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization located on the Island of Dominica, with a mission to rescue and care for all needy animals. Our goal is to provide them with health care, food, shelter, as well as spay and neuter services, and help them find loving, forever homes.

Saint Nicholas Animal Rescue embodies the spirit of its namesake, Saint Nicholas of Tolentino, the Patron of sick and injured animals. This organization is a testament to the belief that compassion should extend beyond humanity to all creatures of the world. Located in Dominica, the team comprises individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, including teachers, lawyers, and medical doctors, all united by a shared commitment to animal welfare. Despite their busy professional lives, these volunteers dedicate their time and resources to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need.

Our Mission and Work

• Rescue Operations: With 465 rescues and counting, our team responds rapidly to calls, often making the difference between life and death for animals in distress.
• Adoption and Rehabilitation: Facilitating 225 adoptions, we find loving homes for rescued animals, ensuring they receive the care and affection they deserve.
• Spaying and Neutering: Conducting 97 surgeries to control the pet population and prevent future cases of abandonment and neglect.

Comprehensive Services

• Shelter and Care: Offering sanctuary for sick, abandoned, abused, and disabled animals—the first of its kind in Dominica.
• Education and Advocacy: Collaborating with institutions like St Nicholas University School of Veterinary Medicine to educate on animal welfare and promote a culture of kindness.
• Search & Rescue Canine Program: Training selected dogs to assist in emergency searches and natural disaster responses, providing invaluable service to the community.
