Batibou Beach

Batibou Beach or Batibou Bay is located in the village of Calibishie along the northeast coast of Dominica. The beach is expansive and isolated with soft sands that are great for a romantic walk. The sloping seabed invites visitors to wade out for a good distance towards the sea, and the breezy atmosphere is health to the bones of many wanderers.

Batibou beach is good for swimming and snorkeling, and weary tourists can just choose to relax under the towering coconut trees lining its edges to sip some rum punch. There is a rusty beach bar nearby and a restaurant that people can use, and there is a barbecue spot that people flock to on Sundays when the beach is particularly crowded.

In 2018, Flight Network, one of the world’s largest travel publications, ranked Batibou beach as 34 out of the top 50 beaches in the Caribbean and Central America. The publication came to this voting result after hiring over 1,000 top travel professionals to select and rank 400 world top beaches. The publication ranked Batibou bay as scoring –

  • 9 out of 10 for sheer untouched beauty
  • 8 out of 10 for remoteness
  • 8 out of 10 for sand and water quality

The publication described the beach as “a small 300-mile long private beach that is your entry to nature’s bliss.”
