Belle Fille

Belle Fille is a small inland locality situated near the village of Castle Bruce on Dominica’s eastern side. Tucked into the verdant slopes above the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean, Belle Fille is part of the broader Saint David Parish, and is primarily known for its rural charm, farming activity, and deep-rooted community ties. Its name—French for “beautiful girl”—echoes Dominica’s colonial heritage and reflects the scenic, untouched beauty of the surrounding hills and rainforest.
Geography and Livelihoods
Set within Dominica’s lush interior, Belle Fille is surrounded by fertile lands that are fed by Belle Fille River that support the cultivation of bananas, root crops, plantains, and citrus fruits. Residents often depend on subsistence agriculture, supplemented by work in nearby Castle Bruce or other coastal communities. The area’s natural environment is rich in biodiversity, with streams, secondary forest, and birdlife contributing to its quiet, ecological richness.
