Bioche
Bioche is a village in the Saint Peter Parish of Dominica.
It is a fishing community with clusters of houses constructed close to a rocky shoreline. Many of the fishermen use wooden canoes such as pirogues to navigate the waters for fishing purposes. And of course, the community does have a Fisheries Cooperative.
Bioche village has a community hall, store room, fish freezer, and fishery office managed by the fisheries cooperative society. The village also has a Community Centre constructed in 2014 for general purposes such as computer jobs, internet browsing, and computer printing activities. It was established by FAIRS Foundation.
In 2016, the community established the Bioche Enhancement Inc. Fishermen’s Group with the purposes of eradicating poverty and unemployment through sustainable fishing operations.
In 2011, residents of Bioche were trained on disaster management by the Office of Disaster Management in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Secretariat, and the European Union.
