Black Triggerfish

Black Triggerfish, known scientifically as Melichthys niger, is a species found in the Caribbean Sea along the South of Dominica and Dominica’s West Coast. This fish, commonly called Sibouli by the Kalinago people, is predominantly found near coastal villages like Pointe Michel, Soufriere and Scotts Head. The Black Triggerfish is an essential part of the local marine ecosystem, contributing to the rich biodiversity of Dominica’s waters and reflecting the cultural heritage of the island’s indigenous communities.
