Boeri Lake Trail
The Boeri Lake Trail offers a scenic and moderately challenging hike through Morne Trois Pitons National Park to Boeri Lake. Beginning near Freshwater Lake at the end of Valley Road, the trail leads adventurers through towering cloud forests, showcasing diverse wildlife and the lush scenery of Morne Micotrin and Morne Trois Pitons. Southward views reveal the majestic peaks of Morne Anglais, Morne Nicholls, and Morne Watt.
Hiking the Boeri Lake trail
Hiking the Boeri Lake trail leads through a lush elevated forest where Palmist, Gombo Moutany, Ti Siton, and Maho Kochon trees thrive. Rich in ferns, the area near Boeri Lake features species with pink fronds and impressive tree ferns. The scenery is adorned with the vibrant red-and-yellow flowers of Heliconia (Balizyé) and Apoplèxi plants, creating a colourful and dynamic environment amid the lush forest. The trees also support a variety of epiphytes, such as orchids, bromeliads, mosses and wild anthuriums, adding to the forest’s vibrant ecology.
Ascending the ridge toward Boeri Lake provides visitors with panoramic views of Dominica’s landscape. To the east, one can see the Atlantic Ocean, Morne Jaune and Grand Fond villages, and Chimen L’etang, a historic path used before the Trans-Insular Road. Electricity poles are visible, bringing power to the east coast villages. To the south, Freshwater Lake and parts of the island’s mountainous chain, including Mornes Nicholls, Watt, and Anglais, can be seen.
