Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI)

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) is an essential program supporting small-scale, high-impact projects in Dominica, aligned with Canada’s thematic priorities such as gender equality, human rights, and community resilience. Recently, CFLI provided CAD$95,000 to three Dominican NGOs: Lifeline Ministries Inc., MiTiDom, and Kibe’Kuati Inc., for projects addressing sexual and gender-based violence and empowering Indigenous women in the Kalinago Territory.

One notable project is Lifeline Ministries Inc.’s initiative, which received CAD$40,000 to provide safe accommodation and support services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in collaboration with the Bureau of Gender Affairs. Kibe’Kuati Inc. also received CAD$40,000 to support Indigenous women in the Kalinago Territory, focusing on helping them complete their education and build economic resilience. These initiatives, among others, have significantly contributed to enhancing Dominica’s social fabric and financial opportunities.

CFLI’s partnerships with local NGOs and government agencies have been instrumental in advancing initiatives that create economic and social opportunities for marginalized groups, thereby fostering sustainable development and enhancing Dominica’s social services
