Canefield
Canefield is a town in the Saint Paul Parish of Dominica. It is the largest community in the parish with a population of about 3,400 people. It is located across from Pringle’s Bay. The village is very close to other settlements such as Massacre, Fond Cole, Cochrane, and Checkhall.
Dominica’s first airport is the Douglas-Charles Airport, and the second airport is the one located in Canefield. The Canefield airport was constructed in 1979, and it has a runway measuring 3,130 feet or 954 metres.
A branch of the Jehovah’s Witnesses church is located in the village, and Harris Paints also has a production facility in the settlement. The Sugar Estate which is about 600 acres of land is located in the town, while the DLP government promised to construct a “Cruise village” in Canefield in 2014. There is also the Old Mill Cultural Centre in the village for vacationers.
