Cassanni Laville

Cassanni Laville is a Dominica politician and civil engineer who currently serves as the Minister for Health, Wellness, and Social Services in the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. He has also been the elected parliamentary representative for the Mahaut constituency, succeeding Rayburn Blackmoore, since the 2022 general election.

Cassanni Laville’s Early Life and Education

Cassanni Laville was born in the village of Mahaut, located in the Saint Paul Parish of Dominica. He attended the Dominica Grammar School, one of the island’s premier secondary institutions. Following his secondary education, Laville pursued studies in civil engineering, equipping him with technical expertise that would later inform his approach to public infrastructure and development projects.

Political Career

Laville entered the political arena as a member of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP). In December 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of Public Works and the Digital Economy, where he oversaw infrastructure development and spearheaded initiatives aimed at advancing Dominica’s digital transformation. Following the 2022 general election, Laville was reassigned to his current role as Minister for Health, Wellness and Social Services, where he focuses on public health policies, wellness programs, and social services.

Community Engagement

Beyond his ministerial duties, Laville is actively involved in community development. He has been associated with local sports initiatives, such as the Hon. Cassanni Laville Softball Premier Cricket League, which aims to promote youth engagement and community cohesion through sports.

Legislative Representation

As the parliamentary representative for the Mahaut constituency, Laville serves a diverse electorate that includes the towns of Canefield, Campbell, Massacre, Mahaut, Jimmit, Tarreau, Roger, Springfield, and Warner. His role involves addressing the needs and concerns of these communities within the national legislative framework.
