Chatannyé Tree
The Chatannyé tree, known for its broad buttresses, is a common sight in Dominica’s rainforests, especially along popular hiking trails like the ones leading to Middleham Falls and through the Syndicate Nature Preserve and Emerald Pool. With its wide, stabilising roots, this impressive tree helps anchor the forest soil, playing a crucial role in the island’s ecosystem. The Chatannyé is often found alongside the Gommier tree in Dominica’s lush, protected areas, contributing to the island’s rich biodiversity.
