On January 10, 2025, the Government of Dominica awarded a contract valued at EC$7,795,517.88 to ACE Engineering Ltd for the construction of the Citrus Certification Facility. This project is a component of the Ministry of Agriculture‘s “5Cs” program, which focuses on Cocoa, Coffee, Coconuts, Citrus, and Cannabis, aligning with the government’s objective to boost agriculture’s contribution to the national GDP to EC$700 million by 2030′

Facility Features at Londonderry

The facility’s construction encompasses several key components:

  • Potting House: Equipped with a laboratory and office space to support research and administrative functions.
  • Cold and Warm Rooms: Designed for properly storing and handling citrus products.
  • Greenhouses: Dedicated areas for propagation and germplasm development to ensure the availability of high-quality planting material.
  • Infrastructure Installations: Incorporation of essential amenities such as lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems to maintain optimal operational conditions.

Upon completion, the facility will be able to produce and accommodate up to 50,000 citrus seedlings, significantly contributing to the revitalization of Dominica’s citrus industry.
