Sikiyé (Bananaquit)

The energetic Sikiyé (Bananaquit – Coereba flaveola, Family: Emberizidae) is frequently seen buzzing around flowering plants along the Waitukubuli National Trail. This small bird, with its black-and-yellow plumage, feeds on nectar and contributes to pollination across Dominica’s East Coast and West Coast. Its lively behaviour makes it a favourite sight among nature enthusiasts.
