Vessel Registration Process

Registering a vessel in Dominica involves a systematic process managed by the Dominica Maritime Administration Unit. The process includes:

  1. Submission of Required Documents: Mortgages, bills of sale, and certificates of measurement must be submitted for verification.
  2. Filing by Facsimile: Initial submission can be made by facsimile, followed by the original documents within ten days.
  3. Provisional Certificate: Issued to allow the vessel to operate while final documentation is processed.
  4. Permanent Certificate: Granted upon verification of compliance with all regulatory requirements, including international standards set by SOLAS and MARPOL 73/78.

The Administration ensures that vessels are measured and surveyed by authorized agents to confirm compliance with safety and environmental standards before issuing permanent certificates of registry.
