Dr. Nicholas Liverpool Highway
Dr. Nicholas Liverpool Highway (previously named Trans-insular Road) is named in honor of Dominica’s 7th President, Nicholas Joseph Orville Liverpool. Meandering along the Atlantic Ocean, it runs through the island’s northern part, from Pont Cassé to Marigot, where it joins with the Melville Hall – Portsmouth Road at the Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM).

Dr. Nicholas Liverpool Highway connects the communities of Hatton Garden, Concord, Borne, Stone Hill, and the Belles Primary School in Belles. The highway cuts through the Northern Forest Reserve and Central Forest Reserve. It meanders along a tributary of the Layou River, making it a major thoroughfare crucial for transportation, facilitating access to various communities, and enhancing economic activities. It also links landmarks like Jacko Steps, Jacko Falls and Spanny Falls, contributing to Dominica’s Tourism Industry.
The highway is instrumental in promoting national connectivity and supporting the local economy.
