Freshwater Lake

Freshwater Lake is about two miles from the village of Laudat. Visitors and tourists can use the popular Lake Road also known as Chimen Letan to reach the lake. Freshwater Lake is located within the vicinity of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park.

Freshwater Lake is the largest of the four freshwater lakes in Dominica, and it is situated 2,500 feet high in the national park. This lake is the natural source of the Roseau River, and it is dammed to generate electricity for the inhabitants of Roseau city.

Freshwater Lake is about one and a half miles from Boeri Lake, and it provides an unhindered view of Montane Forest with its canopy of short, thin trees. Bird lovers can watch the mountain whistler, egrets, hummingbirds, and various other birds at the lake and its surrounding unique type of forest.

Visitors to the lake can swim, kayak, or just navigate the 2.5 miles trail at its perimeter to explore its fascinating environment.
