Ian Douglas
Ian Douglas is a political stalwart with the Dominica Labour Party (DLP). His father is Michael Douglas, former Member of Parliament for the Portsmouth constituency and former opposition leader. His uncle was former Prime Minister Roosevelt Douglas who was also a parliamentary representative for the Portsmouth constituency.
Ian Douglas became a member of the House of Assembly for Portsmouth through a by-election that was organized following the death of Roosevelt Douglas.
He became the Minister of Tourism, Legal Affairs and Civil Aviation in Dominica under the administration of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit. Formerly, he served as Attorney General and then Minister of Legal Affairs, Labour and Immigration. In 2017, he was the Minister of Trade, Energy and Employment and worked hard for the completion of the Geothermal Energy Plant in Roseau Valley.
