The Imperial Road is a vital artery that connected to the Edward Oliver Leblanc Highway in Canefield running through the interior of Dominica at Pont Cassé. This scenic route spans the Parishes of Saint Paul and Saint David and ends on Dominica’s East Coast, making it a key connector for travellers exploring the island.
Major Landmarks and Natural Features
At Pont Cassé Roundabout, the road traverses eastwards between Morne Neg Marron and Morne Trois Piton, forming part of the outer boundary of the Morne Trois Piton National Park. It intersects with River Deux Branches and River Laurent, linking with Castle Bruce Road along its route. The breathtaking Emerald Pool is located just five minutes away. This region’s raw beauty, characterised by lush tropical wilderness, offers an exceptional sanctuary for nature enthusiasts.
As the road traverses toward the east coast, it visits landmarks such as Crete Palmiste, Bois Diable, Fortune, and Newfoundland Estate. Near Freeport, the road meanders along the Rosalie River before reaching Rosalie. There, it joins the Rosalie Road and eventually connects with Morne Jaune Road and Grand Fond Road, offering a glimpse of Dominica’s tranquil yet wild landscapes.
