Jack’s Walk

Jack’s Walk is a short but scenic hiking trail in the Dominica Botanic Gardens. It connects the gardens to the historic Morne Bruce lookout and offers panoramic views of Roseau and the island’s lush landscapes. Due to its accessibility and beauty, it’s a popular route for both locals and tourists.

About Jack’s Walk

The trail is named after a colonial figure, Jack, a local prison escapee. According to local lore, he used the trail to evade capture, and over time, it became known as Jack’s Walk. The trail’s historical significance lies in its connection to Morne Bruce, a military lookout established during the colonial era. From the top, visitors can see landmarks such as the Dominica Grammar School, Windsor Park Stadium and the Caribbean Sea.

While primarily a scenic and recreational trail, Jack’s Walk also gives visitors a glimpse into Dominica’s Biodiversity. It offers views of native plant species and, occasionally, the island’s bird species. The trail remains essential to Dominica’s historical and natural heritage, blending nature with a rich cultural past.
