Massacre

Massacre is a village in the Saint Paul Parish of Dominica.

With a population of about 1,500 people, Massacre was the site of an inglorious extermination in ancient times. Here in 1674, the Caribs were slaughtered by the English and the French in a premeditated attack over a dispute for the settlement. The village was named Massacre in commemoration of the massacre that took place there over three centuries ago.

One of the major landmarks in the community is the Massacre River. There is a primary school and a secondary school in the village of Massacre.
