Mero Beach

Mero Beach is lovely, with silver-grey volcanic sand along a rocky coastline in the Caribbean Sea. It can be accessed via the Edward Oliver Leblanc Highway, just about half an hour’s drive from the Roseau Cruise Ship Berth in Roseau. Mero Beach is very close to the village of Mero, which lies north of the Layou River on Dominica’s West Coast.

One of the busiest days at this beach is Sunday, so you must decide whether you want to rock with the Sunday crowd or choose another less crowded day to visit. Sometimes, there can be so many crowds when a large ship docks, and the sight is often of excitement and fascination mixed with awe. You can enjoy a cool swim at the beach or laze about on its sands sunbathing.

Tourists can play and have picnics on the sandy beach under umbrellas and engage in sports such as volleyball, football, cricket, boat racing, and kayaking, among others. There is a barbecue spot close to the beach, and visitors can also use the nearby restaurants, showers, toilets, and concession stands, among other facilities. Lovers can explore the beach barefooted in dawn while watching fire-flies or tuck away at a corner and talk.

The crystal waters of Mero Beach beckon, and the lush vegetation and underwater wonders would be a snorkelling experience that must never be missed if you are ever in Dominica.
