Toucari Bay
Toucari Bay is located a short distance from Portsmouth on the road towards Tan-Tan. The beach and bay are at Toucari village and present a far view of Guadeloupe and the Saints from its fascinating shores. The beach is lined with coconut palm trees and the village has about 50 residential houses buzzing with a communal fishing life.
Toucari Beach and Bay is an inlet in the Caribbean Sea and ideal for water sports and diving activities. Tourists can obtain the help of guides to hire snorkel and mask or other diving gear for a wonderful underwater experience at shallow points of the bay.
By the left-hand side of the bay is a reef that juts out to a rock wall and then on to a cave filled with bats. The corals at the bottom of the shallow sea are brimming with tropical fish, and snorkellers enjoy the volcanic bubbles of gas escaping from the seafloor into the body of warm water. Divers can enjoy seeing varieties of exotic fish in the corals and reefs as well as sponges, turtles, parrotfish, puffer-fish, octopus, moray eels, rays, and squids among other water animals.
Local guides can show you great snorkeling spots and after experiencing the bay underwater, visitors can enjoy Kubuli beer and local rums at shops lining the beach of Toucari village. Tourists can also enjoy local cuisines and music as well as try some barbequed fish at the beach in the company of villagers who hang out at the beach for one business or the other.
