Trafalgar Visitor Facility

The Rafalgar Visitor Facility serves as the official entrance to one of Dominica’s most visited natural landmarks—Trafalgar Falls, located just outside the village of Trafalgar in Saint George Parish. This small but well-maintained center enhances the visitor experience by offering amenities, guidance, and cultural context before guests embark on the short trail to the iconic Mother and Father Falls.

Trafalgar Visitor Facility Services

Situated about 20 minutes from Roseau, the facility includes:

  • A Visitor Information Centre with interpretive displays on local ecology and heritage
  • A Snackette for refreshments
  • A Vending Arcade featuring local crafts, souvenirs, and artisan goods
  • Restroom facilities for guests preparing for the trail

These amenities provide comfort and local flavor, making the site more than just a waterfall stop—it becomes a community-supported eco-tourism experience.

Trail and Site Access

The well-marked trail begins at the facility and takes approximately 10 minutes to reach the viewing platform for Trafalgar Falls. The twin waterfalls—the taller “Mother” and the shorter, forceful “Father”—cascade down rugged volcanic rock, offering one of the most photogenic scenes in Dominica.

Visitors may also explore closer to the base of the falls with guidance, though this involves climbing over rocks and riverbeds. For safety, especially during the rainy season, it is recommended to stay on marked paths and avoid risky river crossings.

Entry Fees and Pass Options

An entry fee of EC$14 (US$5) per person provides access to the site. Frequent explorers may opt for the National Parks Weekly Pass at EC$33 (US$12), which grants entry to several other sites across Dominica, including Emerald PoolBoiling Lake, and Middleham Falls. The Trafalgar Visitor Facility is managed by the Forestry, Wildlife and Parks Division, ensuring environmental protection and site upkeep as part of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park system.
