Trans-insular Road
Trans-insular Road (renamed Dr Nicholas Liverpool Highway) was one of Dominica’s major cross-island routes. First opened in 1957, it ran from Pont Cassé to Douglas-Charles Airport in Marigot.
The Trans-insular Road connected with the Imperial Road to connect Dominica’s Central Regions with Canefield on Dominica’s West Coast. The road cut through the Central Forest Reserve and Northern Forest Reserve and meandered along a tributary of the Layou River, highlighting the area’s natural beauty.
