Woodford Hill Agricultural Station

The Woodford Hill Agricultural Station in Dominica is a cornerstone for agricultural innovation and development in the northeastern region. Known for its propagation of high-quality plant seedlings, including avocado and cocoa, the station supports local farmers and contributes to the country’s agricultural productivity. These seedlings are made available to the public, encouraging sustainable farming practices and crop diversification.

Enhancing Infrastructure and Promoting Sustainable Practices

In line with enhancing agricultural resilience, the station has been earmarked for improvement works under the Emergency Agricultural Livelihoods & Climate Resilience Project (EALCRP). The project encompasses the construction of a potting shed, a new shade house, a security booth, a generator shelter, and the renovation of the existing pump house.

Additionally, the station plays a crucial role in promoting safe agricultural practices. For instance, during Pesticide Awareness Week in September 2022, a demonstration session focusing on the safe use of pesticides was conducted at the station for farm propagation workers and farmers from the North East Agricultural Region.

These initiatives underscore the station’s commitment to supporting Dominica’s agricultural sector by providing essential resources, training, and infrastructure to enhance productivity and sustainability.
